Christaino Ronaldo The Most Player to Get Ballon d’Or
Cristiano Ronaldo has a record in 14 years after Real Madrid star Karim Benzema won the Ballon d’Or.
Cristiano Ronaldo remains the last player to win the Ballon d’Or from outside Spain after Karim Benzema won the prestigious award on Monday night.
The Real Madrid star was known for his exciting effects last season, when he scored 44 goals in all competitions prompting Los Blancos to double La Liga and Champions League. Sadio Mane was second and Kevin De Bruyne .
Benzema has stepped up since Ronaldo’s decision to leave Real Madrid for Juventus again in the summer transfer window of 2018, having achieved everything he wanted at the Bernabeu.
A staggering 44 goals for the current Los Blancos star in all competitions led him to be crowned the best player in world football.
Benzema was unplayable as Real Madrid won the Champions League last season, with strikes against players such as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City particularly memorable.
His victory means Ronaldo remains the last player from outside Spain to win the award, having won the award in 2008 when he was strutting with Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema played side by side at Real Madrid, leading Los Blancos to win four Champions League titles during that period.
Manchester United was held by Newcastle United and lost three points out of the top four when Marcus Rashford missed with a header in the last seconds.
Casemiro floated a cross to the far post with practically his last touch of a forgettable game. Rashford, a replacement, soared highest, but his shot missed the far post.
Newcastle was on the verge of securing just their second victory at Old Trafford since 1972 when Joelinton’s first-half header hit the crossbar, but the Brazilian failed to head the rebound into the empty net. A goal at that point could have been harsh on Newcastle.
