Milinkovic-Savic is suspended for the Roma derby
Savic Blow for Lazio as the Serbian midfielder will miss the derby against Roma
It’s a double blow for Lazio in the game against Salernitana. In addition to losing 3-1 after scoring first, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been booked and will miss the derby against Roma, in match week 13 of Serie A. The Serbian midfielder, who was kept on the bench to protect him for the derby, came in second half in place of Luis Alberto, and received somewhat naive yellow card, as the Serbian midfielder couldn’t avoid a contact with Dylan Bronn in the 72nd minute.
Salernitana recorded a huge upset in the match week 12 in Serie A, as they stunned the hosts, Lazio, with an impressive come back from 1-0 down to 3-1 victory, to register their first win in eight Serie A away matches.
Nicola’ team got the second win in row and continues on the positive run (after the win against Spezia in the last match day). the team now – temporarily – occupy the ninth place with 16 points. The Biancocelesti remained at 24, suffering from the second defeat in the League.
At the end of the game, Maurizio Sarri – Lazio head coach – spoke about the suspension of the Serbian: “It wasn’t even a foul. Milinkovic-Savic played the ball. Someone in possession who plays the ball and is cautioned! I had never seen something like that in fifty years of career. If I say what I think about this, they (Competition) will suspend me for 6 months…”.
Lazio have to now regroup for Roma’ encounter, without their top goal scorer, Ciro Immobile (injury), and Milinković-Savić, after the Serbian picked up a booking.
